The goal of the 2022 GEAR UP Kentucky Institute for a College-Going Culture: The Comeback from COVID is to provide motivation, tools, and strategies for students to heal, reset, and refocus on the importance of education and the impact it has on their overall success.

Morning Session | Paddock Pavilion

Students will learn how to use writing as not only a form of communication, but also a means of positive 
expression and a tool for improved mental health and self-care.

11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Lunch + Plenary Speaker Zach Gowen Grand Ballroom Salons
This former WWE Superstar lost his leg to cancer at age 8 and his dad at a young age. On the heels of a successful career with the WWE, Gowen nearly lost his life to drugs. Gowen will share his personal story, relaying the importance of resilience and grit and conveying that persistence beats resistance every time.
1:00-2:55 p.m. Afternoon Session | Paddock Pavilion

- What You Got, What You Want, and What You Need
Students will develop an inventory of the foundations for educational success they have, as well as the ones they want and need – and plan on how to get them.

3:00-3:30 p.m.

Chris Collins: We Are Stormbreakers + Snacks | Grand Ballroom Salons
The day will wrap up with the message that the power is within all of us – and that together, we can can overcome our challenges – even a pandemic.
