FAFSA Forward: Guiding Your Way Through the FAFSA

Completing the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) can be challenging, and the launch of the new FAFSA form brings new processes and challenges. GEAR UP Kentucky asked our friends at the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) to join us for a Facebook Live event designed especially for parents/guardians of current high school seniors and college students. This recorded event (1.25.24) features the most up-to-date info on the new FAFSA form, including new processes and how to file, as well as answers to questions posed by real-life Kentucky parents/guardians.

Where Do I Belong? Helping Your Student Find Their People and Place at College

Whether or not we realize it, families have unique cultures that influence how each family member thinks, feels and acts. When students go to college, they are experiencing and participating in a whole other unique culture. It’s crucial to students’ postsecondary success that they have a sense of belonging and engagement. This recorded event enables you to: identify and celebrate your family's unique culture; examine some cultural differences your student may experience at college; consider the benefits of connecting with people different from one's self; and explore campus resources that can help your student get connected to others who share their values and interests.

Featuring Dr. Dawn Offutt and Antoine Smith-Rouse

READY OR NOT: Getting Yourself & Your Student Emotionally Prepared for the Transition To & Through Their First Year of College

You'll leave with strategies and resources that will help you navigate this challenging time.

Featuring Dr. Deborah Gilboa, Carol Currans, Beth Lawson and Kaelan Frazier.
