Resources for Institutions
Chad Bryant, Augusta Independent Director of District Services, shares his thoughts on the impact and benefits of being a GEAR UP Kentucky partner.
How GEAR UP Kentucky Supports School & District Partners
GEAR UP Kentucky (GUK) is providing services to middle and high school students in the following school districts: Anderson County, Augusta Independent, Bath County, Mason County, Mercer County, Newport Independent, Pendleton County, and Washington County.
GEAR UP Kentucky works alongside schools and districts to build strong systems that help students plan for success after high school. We offer planning support, professional learning, funding, and tools that help create a lasting college-going culture.
School Sustainability Planning & Funding
We provide hands-on support, guided planning, and annual funding to help schools create and carry out a GEAR UP School Sustainability Plan. These plans align with school and district improvement goals and focus on building a college-going culture that lasts.
Planning & Professional Development
Through GEAR UP Kentucky's partnership with AdvanceKY, educators receive nearly 150 hours of professional learning, mentoring, classroom funds, and incentives to expand student success in Algebra I, AP, and dual credit courses. This support strengthens teaching practices and builds strong collaboration across grades.
Advising & Assessment
Schools receive SAT-aligned assessment tools, teacher training, and advising frameworks from the Kentucky Advising Academy to support consistent, school-wide advising. These tools help students plan, stay on track, and prepare for life after high school.
Peer Engagement & Leadership
School teams receive paid registration to attend the CPE Access Summit, and superintendents have a one-time opportunity to participate in the national NCCEP District Leadership Institute. These experiences help leaders learn, share ideas, and strengthen student support systems.
Family Engagement Support
We provide guidance and technical assistance to help schools become Family Friendly Schools through the Kentucky Collaborative for Families and Schools. This support helps schools build strong, welcoming partnerships with families.
